The AIA Java panel

Advanced Information Access (AIA) is made up of a small 'experts only' team of consultants and programmers. Our expertise covers a wide range of skills from the latest database and networking techniques to full high availability servers. Our Consultants design and implement systems tailored to your needs using all the flexibility and power of the modern computer.

We are currently highlighting our expertise with Sun High Availability servers, Oracle databases and the Year 2000 problem:

Sun High Availability Servers

Advanced Information Access, with its unrivalled commercial experience, has long recognised that for the medium to large scale organisation, all applications are mission critical. Working in partnership with Sun Microsystems, AIA has now built the definitive High Availability Server for the Enterprise, the key element of which is:

No Single Point of Failure

Details of this High Availability Server can be found at our Sun Server Centre, together with more details of Sun's Reliability, Availability and Serviceability features which help make this concept a reality.

Sun Competency 2000

Sun Competency 2000

In 1998 AIA was Certified by Sun Microsystems under its Competency 2000 program, in recognition of AIA's high level of expertise. Competency 2000 recognises expertise in configuring and installing servers, setting up Networks, and configuring Solaris to meet the most exacting standards. AIA has expert Certification at the Wokgroup Server level, and the Systems team has passed the Certification criteria for the next level as well.

Oracle Database Techniques

Advanced Information Access has worked with Oracle databases for most of the 1990s, primarily in building commercial applications. Recently our expertise has expanded into the area of Management Information Systems and Data Warehousing, and in recognition of this, AIA was appointed an Oracle Reseller in 1997.

One of our latest projects has been as part of a team converting an RDB system to SAP/R3 using Oracle 8, where our data conversion and DBA skills came to the fore.

Another large project just completed is building and loading a 300GB+ Oracle 8 database for a sophisticated Management Information System, including Data Warehouse, for a multi-billion pound turnover wholesaler. On this project AIA worked closely with Oracle's own Consultants to provide the customer with the best possible team for the job.

Year 2000 Expertise

Time has almost run out for users who have not tackled the Year 2000 problem.

This problem typically arises when a two digit decimal representation has been used to store the year part of a date field. The first commercial software written by AIA over 25 years ago used a binary representation of the calendar date which is inherently Year 2000 compliant. This was in the original 16 bit version of ADAM (1972/3), and all our later software has retained this resilience. AIA is therefore uniquely competent to carry out Year 2000 evaluations of commercial programs, and has already successfully completed a number of such projects.

Our Y2K team is fully committed for the next four months, so anybody wishing to make use of our services should contact us now.

AIA's Success

The secret of the long standing success of AIA is the high quality of our team of consultants and programmers, and our commitment to our customers. Our consultants study all problems in depth, and end up becoming experts in the user's business as a result.
